Just heard a great comment from a reactor who was listening to Starry Night - “everything is art man - you just gotta find the art in it”.

As I sit at the table writing this comment, I look up to ponder for a second. Into sharp focus comes the 3 dimensionality of all the objects on and around the table, the angles, the textures, the colours, the amazing grain in the wooden table, the design inherent in the metal straw, the beautiful fruit bowl, the neck reading light, the headphones, the wireless mouse. Then the mostly ignored tick of the quartz driven clock permeates the visuals and draws my attention up to the hand made clock crafted from old whisky barrels ….

And here I sit, part of my own “painting”, suddenly spinning the mundane into the profound just by noticing - a divine gift - the ability to simply “notice”.

Yeh - “everything is art man - you just gotta find the art in it”.

(Well, so much for just writing a comment. Thank you Tamsin - that kinda hit home ❤️)

Gosh I just keep wanting to rec books to you 😂 What you’ve been writing about lately reminds me of my thesis research years ago. Have you read Art and Experience by John Dewey? Honestly it’s such a slog to get through… but it was probably the most formative thing I’ve read on art. Your piece really reminded me of it. Also… you have a real knack for connecting with artists online. It’s inspiring!
